4 Best Parts of the 4th Annual LilWeezyana Fest

Updated: Apr 10, 2019

An apology from Birdman, a special appearance from Nicki Minaj, hints of Carter V dropping soon, and a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Tha Carter III.

On August 25th, Lil Wayne held his 4th Annual LilWeezyana Fest at Champions Square in New Orleans. The lineup included NBA Young Boy, Tory Lanez, and some of his Young Money signees: Jay Jones, Stephanie Acevado, Neno Calvin, and Vice Versa. In this concert review, I'm going to touch on the 4 best parts of the fest.

4 Favorite Moments

1. One of the best parts of festivals and shows is being introduced to new music and new artists. The festival kicked off with Wayne's Young Money signees performing 2-3 of their songs. While hyping the crowd up, it gave the openers exposure and a broader audience. My personal favorite was Stephanie Acevado's set and her cover of "Natural Woman" as a tribute to the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

2. Viewers at home watching the livestream on Tidal along with those in the crowd were in for a treat when the Queen, Nicki Minaj, came out and performed. She rapped her verse from her recent song with 6ix9ine, "Fefe," her verse from "Big Bank" by YG, and a track from her newest album Queen, "Barbie Dreams." While on stage, she also thanked Lil Wayne for helping to mold her career.

3. Tidal. From giving away tickets to the festival at a local Sprint store the day before to their Lil Wayne mural onsite where fans could take Instagram worthy pictures to their free bandanas. Also, as mentioned in #2, they were live-streaming the entire festival for their subscribers.

4. Lastly, Birdman surprised us all. After jumping on stage and performing a couple songs, he publicly apologized to Lil Wayne with a heartfelt apology. He acknowledged how amazing it felt to be home in New Orleans with Wayne, how much love he has for his peer, and that he wanted to apologize to him worldwide.
